An Albuquerque Journal sports reporter has been charged with battery after allegedly shoving an online journalist on Sept. 25 after a Rio Rancho High School football game.

James Yodice, 42, of Albuquer-que, has been summoned to appear in Bernalillo Magistrate Court to answer the charge of battery. An arraignment trial is scheduled for Dec. 7.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim Eric Maddy, proprietor of the Sandoval County Online Reporting Enterprise, told an officer that Yodice shoved him into a work station and held him down before being pulled off by several people in the press room.

Maddy had a large welt on the right side of his head accompanied by swelling, according to the report.
