Rio Rancho police had a few encounters with a man recently arrested in Pueblo, Colo., for allegedly peeping into a woman’s window and allegedly attempting to blow up a police officer’s home.
RRPD spokesman Officer John Francis said police responded to a domestic dispute involving Robert Bruce, 51.

In April of 1997, Bruce was charged with battery against a household member, assault against a household member and interference with communications. The interference charge was dismissed in April of 1998, but he pleaded guilty to the other two counts in June of 1998 in Sandoval County District Court.
Albuquerque Police spokesman John Walsh said police believe Bruce is the "ether man" and responsible for 11 rapes in the Duke City dating back to 1991.
Walsh said Bruce has been indicted on 44 counts and there is a warrant for his arrest.
Bruce is answering charges in Colorado and Walsh said Bruce could be extradited after Colorado is complete with its judicial string of charges. Bruce is also a suspect in Texas for a rape that occurred in 2006.
Walsh said they connected Bruce to the New Mexico rapes through DNA.
"We obtained a DNA sample from him by court order and it matches five of our 11 cases," Walsh said. "The other ones are cases on modus operandi and other faculty basis."
While Bruce has been dubbed the "ether man," he actually didn’t use ether to render women unconscious.
"It was a trichemical compound, but not in every case," Walsh said. "He did it in enough cases that detectives dubbed him the ether man. It was a term coined to him, but not a factual account."
