Rants & Raves

“Why is the city of Rio Rancho resurfacing roads that don’t need resurfacing? They have just resurfaced the top half of Broadmoor and also Seven Falls Drive; what about resurfacing the messed-up NM 528? Any more patching up on this road, and there will be more patches than original surface. The man hours spent patching this up could’ve been put toward the cost of doing the whole road. The mentality of this city is insane.”

“Over the weekend, a fire truck headed northbound on Southern Boulevard, south of Sara Road and passed me with sirens blaring and lights flashing just to get back to the fire department; this isn’t necessary.”

" I see fire trucks going way too fast all over the City, but I never see news about fires. Where is the fire? "

Common Sense wrote on Oct 19, 2009 9:43 AM:

" The road resurfacing is called Preventative Maintenance for a reason. It's to keep roads that are in decent condition from getting into bad condition. Say you have two cars and one needs a new engine and the transmission rebuilt. You wouldn't say, "I'm going to stop changing the oil and rotating the tires on the other car because that money should be put towards the new engine on the bad car." "

Call me crazy wrote on Oct 19, 2009 11:32 AM:

" Just a thought, the city could also "pave" some of the roads that they say they spend so much money maintaining. The grater never makes it to the roads off of Rainbow. The city says they are maintained but it's because they don't live on it. They have re-paved Pecos Lp, Baltic and other streets in the same area MULTIPLE times since I've been there. "

" I agree you hear all the sirens continuous but you never read or hear about anything that happens. If it doesn't pretain to Sue Cleveland then then it doesn't matter or sports. "

" Common Sense - So why is Rio Rancho Boulevard in such bad condition then??? They obviously didn't do "preventative maintenance" on that road did they? "

" The letter regarding the bad road was supposed to read rio rancho boulevard, not NM 528, someone can't print what is written. "

" There is no such road as Rio Rancho Boulevard. It never was approved. The road's name is Pat D'Arco Highway. "

State vs. City wrote on Oct 21, 2009 9:29 AM:

" NM528 is the responsibility of the State of NM, not the City of Rio Rancho, to maintain. Why don't you call the State Highway Dept. and lodge your complaint, instead of griping about it in a forum. "

Camille wrote on Oct 27, 2009 12:30 PM:

" First off, Hwy 528 has been it's name ever since we moved here in 1992. I have absolutely no idea who Pat D'Argo is or was?
Secondly, the repaving of already good paved roads in Rio Rancho is ridiculous. You should be using the tar and manpower to pave some of the dirt roads in Rio Rancho (that truly need it) instead of roads that are already perfectly fine. What a waste of manpower and money! "

" I have to agree with the Ranter. That part of Broadmoor was in excellent shape. Now you need to watch out for the manhole covers (potholes). When I saw it I thought the same exact thing.

For Common Sense, a better analogy would be: one car needs a new engine so I guess I better change the engines on both cars even if the 2nd car is a 2009 with no miles. "

" RRPS and RRDPS Fraud
If you think the RRDPS officer(s) at your public school is there to protect your child and enforce the law, think again.
Last year while my step daughter was enrolled at the Mid-High she had her expensive IPod stolen. A day or so later we discovered who had stolen it and I attempted to file charges with the "officers" at the school. They turned me away. Their excuse was that so many IPods are stolen, that all they would be doing is tracking them down, never mind the law. "

RAY wrote on Oct 29, 2009 4:21 PM:

" CITY ROAD WORK-While driving down Spring with several other cars & we got to the far north-end the sign said road closed. I was pulling a trailer and there was no place to turn around. Myself and other drivers looked at each other. We drove in mesa next to the road. The driver of the road grader started yelling at us. When I yelled put the sign at the top of the road. He started crusing and drove at us blowing the horns on the grade. My wife and I were in fear of our lives. "

Kevin wrote on Oct 30, 2009 9:20 AM:

" Ray, you obviously never spent any time in the public safety field. While several reports of fires (and crimes) come in each day, very few are found to be true emergencies. Since it is impossible to always differentiate a true emergency from a 911 call, the calls are still treated as an emergency until proven otherwise...hence the number of emergency responses without news reports of actually emergencies. "

" Pat D'Arco is a former mayor of rio rancho, the current planning and zoning board chairman, a WWII hero, a transportation guru and the man responsible for widening NM 528. He is the Godfather "

Teacher wrote on Nov 1, 2009 8:36 AM:

" Charles,
Maybe the DPS officer should have told you that IPODS are NOT allowed at school. That way he could have said, your daughter broke the rule and is now paying the consequences. But that would require you and your daughter to take responsibility, not likely from parents in RR. "

RRHS parent wrote on Nov 2, 2009 6:16 PM:

" The point that the student took the IPOD to school is irelevent, it was stolen and the person who stole is should be held responsible, if not, this sends the message, that its ok to take something that doesn't belong to them, and get away with it. DPS are there to uphold the law, and sitting on it and doing nothing, is not the way to go. "

mkhoosier wrote on Nov 4, 2009 8:19 AM:

" I agree with Teacher. The point is that the Ipod wouldn't have been stolen if your daughter hadn't broken the rules. I always tell my kids if they break a rule and bring something not allowed to school and it is stolen that I don't want to hear about it and it is their loss(which will also not be replaced by me). Kids need to be taught responsibility. Yes, the kid who stole it is wrong, but your child needs to take responsibility for their mistake as well. Had it not been taken to school, she'd still have her Ipod! "

Otto wrote on Nov 5, 2009 10:23 AM:

" What kind of logic is this?
2 wrongs make right?
So if im illegally parked its ok to steal my car? oh had I not parked there my car wouldnt have been stolen..
Stupid. "
