Rants & Raves

“We can thank the big egos and small minds of our local politicians for the slow to nonexistent growth in our current white elephant of a City Center. They were not big enough people to credit the brilliance of Jim Palenick in negotiating all the deals that would have had our City Center booming by now and instead got rid of him. When he went, so did those he made deals with. Now we are stuck with excuses as though this never occurred, from those who were too threatened by his brilliance and who have appointed those as mediocre as themselves to carry on.”

“Since when is it big news that a hobby breeder was denied a permit to have two litters of pups a year, despite that authorities found nothing wrong, but that a neighbor or two complained about odor. IMHO, these are baseless complaints against those who seek hobby breeder permits. I’m fed up with this mindless and insidious bias. What will happen when these same people are looking for pets of their choice in five to 10 years and can’t find them due to animal haters and mindless politicians promoting propaganda? Why doesn’t the Observer do a report on existing hobby breeder licenses in the city where there are no complaints? I know people who can smell ‘offensive’ dog poop a mile away — or so they say.”

" You have to be kidding. Come to Bay City Michigan and see what a loser Jim Palenick is. "

" Marti - Bay City Michigan is not Rio Rancho. Secondly, why would someone from Bay City Michigan be reading the Rio Rancho newspaper. This feels fishy. The editorial on City Center is right on. Mayor Swisstack is like Nero, while Nero fiddles Rome burns. Take a look at the new retail development going in along 528 and 550 within the boundaries of Bernalillo. New sign "45 Acre Retail Development. What this means is gross receipts tax dollars not going to Rio Rancho. Time for a change in leadership. "

" The biggest problem with RR is that it's a bedroom community for ABQ and Santa Fe. You want to increase gross receipts, attract companies that will keep residents IN RR to spend money, and maybe pull in from ABQ and Santa Fe for a change.

RR has the level of Retail it can sustain. Bagel Shops, Nail Salons, Tire stores, Gun Shops, Mr. Happy, Wal*Mart, burger joints, and the mess that's Southern blvd.

Want higher end retail? Bring in more jobs that pay better than call center level jobs. "

" Thanks so very much for Boy Scout Troop 99 for helping Saturday morning with crowd control for the Darth Vadar Balloon.
People do not realize that the rope from the top can be so dangerous and they helped to nicely keep people clear.
Thank you!
