Norm Burns, president of the new chapter, said the club meets the first Monday of each month at 11 a.m. at O’Hare’s Grille and Pub, on the southwest corner of Southern Boulevard and NM 528.
Burns said the club, which had an introductory meeting this summer at Chamisa Hills Country Club, has about 35 members thus far, each donating a minimum of $50 for a year’s membership. Proceeds go toward scholarships for University of New Mexico student-athletes.

If you are interested in learning more about the local Lobo Club or reserving a seat on the fan bus for the Sept. 4 Lobos game, call Burns at 962-0358.
The local club has also planned a golf challenge, pitting Lobos fans against New Mexico State University fans, at Chamisa Hills on Sept. 25, one day before the Aggies face the Lobos at University Stadium.
Spaces are limited for the tournament, says organizer Joe Cordova, president-elect of the Rio Rancho/Sandoval County chapter.
The format has two-man teams in a scramble for the “Challenge Cup,” as well as a four-man scramble. (Of course, women are welcome.)
The entry fee is $135 per golfer; for four-man teams entered by Aug. 30, the team fee is $400.
There also will be long-drive and closest-to-the-pin contests, plus a continental breakfast before the 9 a.m. shotgun start.
For more information, or to sign-up, call Cordova at 366-4218.
