Where'€™s our Lion'€™s share?

Editor:

Can someone please find out what happened to or is going on with Lions Gate. Our current mayor made vague reference to this issue months ago.

He alleged they still wanted the land to build a studio and would start by November of this year. And then there is the big announcement related to the other movie studio, Masque Entertainment. Allegedly they were buying land next to the National Guard Armory and breaking ground in September. It feels like our city leaders are giving us a lot of spin. It would also be helpful if you guys can find out what the real story is on the new downtown development. Under (former mayor Jim) Owen we had a great plan that would have resulted in actual building over the last three years. Then (former mayor Kevin) Jackson led the city council like the pied piper and trashed the plan, which has resulted in a fantastic arena in the middle of nowhere with no services such as restaurants, coffee shops, and other things for people to do. Things that would attract people to the arena. The only thing I see going on is a new mayor forcing people out of office and trying to grab more power. And I think these would be great upcoming stories for the paper.
