“Thanks to The Observer for giving me the opportunity to view the TV log in the Sunday paper. I have depended on this from the Thursday paper for a long time. I was afraid when the Thursday paper was no longer printed I would not have this available.”
“Let’s see ... according to (the Sept. 21) rants, a cowardly, bottom-feeding low-life Democrat with a socialist mentality stole somebody’s McCain sign. And a low-stooping Republican swiped two Obama signs. What can we infer from this, other than that — the McCain supporter has a nastier personality and vocabulary than the Obama supporter, and is right handy with threats. Both Republicans and Democrats are thieves. Ranters jump to conclusions based on no evidence whatsoever. Could not the perpetrators of these horrible thefts have been apolitical types with nothing better to do? Or gang members depressed at not having any handy spray paint? Or Ron Paul supporters? Or two angry gods visiting their wrath upon nonbelievers? It’s silly to expect candidates to discuss issues when they know dang well voters are fixated on yard signs.”

“The Rio Rancho school district has put all teacher stipends on hold. The school district has frozen the budget at Rio Rancho High School. Teacher insurance rates have gone up. The school district has no money for RRHS but plenty of money for Cleveland High School and their campus. Something stinks here for all us remaining at RRHS! If we change our name to Cleveland HS the second, it would probably open lots of district money back to Rio Rancho High School. We cannot afford to open a new high school this year. Wait one more year to do it right and not this year, just because the name is Sue Cleveland.”
“The real reason our school district is in a financial downfall is we are not ready to fund a new high school. We need to realize now that we need to delay opening Cleveland High for one year, when we are more financially ready for it to open. We currently have frozen teacher stipends, a frozen budget and teachers are being asked to work more and get paid less. Our school district did not budget properly for the new school coming, as is obvious when they forgot to ask for money in the bond issue for water and sewage to our new high school. We do not want a new school opened if it is not ready and it will not be.”
“RRPS has another year of budget shortfalls with the same excuses. How about taking some responsibility for the irresponsible financial mismanagement and staying within your means? Teachers and students will feel the brunt. Where is the tightening of the belt at the district level? I suggest the Dynamic Duo, Sue Cleveland and Lisa Cour, look at the top heavy district administration for the savings. How long are we going to tolerate the year-after-year financial irresponsibility? A comprehensive audit from a company that is not already in the district’s pocket needs to take a hard look at the way things are run at the Golden Tower. RRPS administration is too comfortable with the status quo and using taxpayers’ money to constantly foot the bill. We need a school board that isn’t meshed with the superintendent. It’s time for a change. After all, she already has a school named after her.”
“To the person stealing political signs along Southern: Don’t get caught. There are penalties. By your taste in signs, you seem to be an Obama fan.”
“I don’t understand why every complaint about irresponsible animal owners winds up being blamed on purebred animal breeders. I am sick and tired of this mindless scapegoating. Do people honestly see the streets flooded with roving, purebred cats and dogs? I have been looking for a purebred puppy of the breed of my choice for more than six months because there is not one registered breeder of this dog in the entire state of New Mexico, let alone roaming nearby streets. The problems with roving outdoor cats are due to feral or semi-feral cats — however they became this way. I have seen these cats openly breeding outdoors. What good is a city-wide crackdown on purebred breeders going to do when it is not these breeders causing problems with feral cats or roving mixed breed dogs? Why not fund or encourage a trap/spay-neuter/release program to help reduce the feral cat problem?”
“Well done to the Bernalillo County sheriff who was driving along Rio Rancho Blvd., with his child under the age of 12 in the front seat of his car. Ever wonder why police are not respected, when they make the laws and break them?”
“I live in Northern Meadows and we have a homeowners association. In a recent community newsletter from Double R Realty, an article by Bill White, the association president, was about ever-growing covenant violations and how the board is being put into the position of having to look at implementing certain measures to ensure compliance. I guess this is why homeowners who fly the American flag for their loved ones overseas have been sent letters stating they are in violation and must take their flags down. How un-American can they be? If they have a problem with the American flag, then we don’t need them.”

33 times in the last 3 years. Over the last 3 weeks there have been 6 waterline breaks. Come and see the cascade of water running down our street, wear waders! Game and Fish is thinking of stocking the stream! The Solution? Install new waterlines. The cost is minimal compared to the money that is floating down our streets! The city must have plenty to throw away.
Councilman Naranjo, how about a little help! "
