Applications sought for two task forces

The City of Rio Rancho is seeking residents who are interested in serving on recently created taskforces related to disability issues and animal welfare. Applications can be obtained from the Office of the City Clerk located at Rio Rancho City Hall.

For the disability taskforce, the city is seeking applications from citizens who reside in City Council District 1. In relation to the animal welfare taskforce, applications from veterinarians or animal care providers who dispense services in Rio Rancho are needed for consideration.

Applications must be returned to the city clerk’s office along with a current resume by Mon., Sept. 29, at 5 p.m. Upon review of applications received, Mayor Tom Swisstack will conduct interviews with perspective candidates and make formal recommendations to the City Council for their review and approval.

Each taskforce will exist for a period of one year and will meet monthly. It will provide status reports to the council before making final recommendations to them for consideration and possible adoption.

Rio Rancho City Hall is located at 3200 Civic Center Circle NE. For more information, residents should call the City Clerk’s office at 891-5004.

Fishing report

Fishing for bluegill has been good in the Tingley Beach children’s and central ponds, using night crawlers, according to a fishing report from the City of Albuquerque. These ponds are also fair for catching catfish using stink bait. Bass fishing pressure has been very light. Trout fishing in the south catch-and-release pond has been poor.
