While we are constantly being bombarded with television ads promoting either Barack Obama or John McCain, don’t forget there are several elections close to home this November. And, if you want to have your voice heard then you better be registered to vote.

If you are unsure whether you are registered or not, call the Sandoval County Bureau of Elections at 867-7577 or visit their Web site at boe.sandovalcountynm.gov. From there, click on “Find my precinct” from the menu on the left side of the page. This will also inform you on the races you will be voting on.

If you aren’t registered, then you better get on the ball. Oct. 7 is the final day to register for this “historic” election.

To register, stop by the clerk’s office at the Sandoval County Courthouse, 711 Camino del Pueblo, Bernalillo.

The Department of Motor Vehicles also registers voters and anywhere in the county where a deputy registration officer accepts registrations.

If you are antsy and don’t want to wait until Nov. 4 arrives, then you can vote by absentee, starting Oct. 7. You can vote in the clerk’s office or mail your absentee ballot. Just follow the directions on your ballot.

To request an absentee ballot, call the County Clerk’s office at 867-7572.
