The West Mesa Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is seeking women and men with an associate or higher degree interested in making new friends, exploring new interests, and challenging their minds. Current and prospective members are invited to the annual Fall Fiesta to learn about upcoming plans including a wide variety of daytime and evening social and study groups.
The Fall Fiesta will be a salad and dessert luncheon held on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 11:30 a.m., at the Ventana Ranch Community Center off Universe on Ventana Village Road. Local residents graduate from college
Below is a list or recent college graduates with local ties:
— Tawny L. Ford, of Rio Rancho, received a bachelor of general studies from West Texas A&M University, in Canyon, Texas, at summer commencement excercises on Aug. 8, at the First United Bank Center on the WTAMU campus. Ford was one of 335 WTAMU students to earn their degrees at the summer commencement.
— Tammy Haarlow, of Rio Rancho, received an associate of science in general studies from Indiana Wesleyan University on Aug. 9. Haarlow was one of 1,513 students who received degrees during the IWU commencement at the university’s campus in Marion, Indiana.
— Leah Hay, of Placitas, graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and Spanish from Trinity University in San Antonio. The commencement was held on May 17.
