Developers had a night that any Chicago Cub hitter would envy, a perfect night at the Rio Rancho Planning and Zoning Board meeting on Tuesday.
Entities requesting zoning approvals went seven-for-seven.

The homebuilders wanted a vacation of public right of way along a portion of Ninth Avenue near the intersection of Loma Colorado Drive and the vacation of the temporary public roadway easement between the Blades Sportsplex and Northern Boulevard.
AMREP Southwest followed it up with another approval. The board approved the longtime Rio Rancho company’s request for a preliminary plat extension for Enchanted Hills.
The plat subdivides 26.94 acres into 114 single family lots, located south of U.S. 550 and 1,000 feet west of Chayote Road in an R-1, Single Family Residential District, south of Valencia Drive and an R-3, Multi-Family Residential District, north of Valencia Drive.
The board approved the City of Rio Rancho’s request to amend portions of the Melon Ridge Specific Area Plan from R-3, Multi-Family Residential Uses, to C-1, Retail Commercial Uses, located on Melon Road, west of 26th Street.
The city had another request approved. This one rezoned 9.36 acres from unzoned to R-1, single family residential. The property is at the northwest corner of Melon Road and 26th Avenue.
The board approved Charles and Elaine Mutter’s request to rezone 2.2 acres from unzoned to C-1, Retail Commercial District, located on the south side of Melon Road.
Summertree Homes’ request to rezone an acre from R-1, Single Family Residential to R-2, Single Family Residential was approved. The land is 800 feet north of Southern Boulevard.
RJR Properties’ request was approved. The company wants to rezone 1.89 acres from C-2, Wholesale and Warehousing Commercial to SU/C-2, Special Use for Wholesale and Warehousing, and Assisted Living, Nursing and Community Residential Care Facilities and Similar Institutions.
The property is north of Jackie Road and 350 feet west of Stephanie Road.
