Jeffrey Bronstein of New Jersey will take over the reins of the Rio Rancho Public School’s transportation department.

Bronstein starts his new job on July 1.

Consistency has been the theme for the transportation director. Bronstein will be the second person to have the job.

Theresa Saiz was the executive director since the district was created in 1993. She is leaving to be the district’s full time government liaison. Though Bronstein has no experience working in public schools, he has the capabilities to perform the job.

Bronstein is leaving his job as vice president of the office of regulatory planning and policy development for Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. It’s a job he has held since 1996.

Some of his duties at the hospital included directing the planning department and providing support to the tri-state healthcare system and leading key regulatory planning activities for key operational, strategic and capital program initiatives.

Bronstein’s new duties as executive director of transportation include overseeing the contract the district has with Durham School Services, which provide the bus service. He also will address parents’ concerns for student safety and directs the buses’ routing and scheduling.

The district received 25 applications and interviewed five candidates.

Other finalists for the job included Vista Grande Elementary School assistant principal Wayne Bradford Parker of Rio Rancho; deputy commandant for the Corps of Cadets at the New Mexico Military Institute, Louis Deasaro of Roswell; Durham School Services general manager Royce Binns of Albuquerque; and Albuquerque resident Art Corsie.
