The five finalists include Vista Grande Elementary School assistant principal Wayne Bradford Parker, of Rio Rancho; Deputy Commandant for the Corps of Cadets at the New Mexico Military Institute Louis Deasaro, of Roswell; New York-Presbyterian Hospital Vice President Office of Regulatory Planning and Police Development Jeffrey Bronstein, of Lambertville, N.J.; Durham School Services general manager Royce Binns, of Albuquerque and Albuquerque resident Art Corsie. Corsie was the development services director for the Town of Castle Rock in Colorado from May of 2004 to June of 2007.
Whoever earns the job will be responsible for overseeing the contract the district has with Durham School Services, which provide the bus service. The executive director of transportation also addresses parents’ concerns for student safety and directs the buses’ routing and scheduling.
Theresa Saiz is the current transportation director. She is not leaving the district, but is giving up the transportation duties to focus on being the district’s government liaison.
When Saiz first started in 1994, the district had 5,000 students. That number has drastically increased to 13,000, with no sign of slowing.
