Twin Tip Nation

has great deal on tix

Twin Tip Nation, Rio Rancho’s only ski shop, is sponsoring the

USASA Slope Style Event at Angel Fire Resort on Feb. 3 — a perfect day to ski

and catch New Mexico’s best skiers and boarders.

You can get your half-price lift ticket coupons at TTN, 1511 Golf Course Rd., Unit C.

This event, held on Super Bowl Sunday during the day, leaves plenty of time to get home for the

big game, provides the least-crowded day on the slopes.

Spring-sport positions

open in Rio Rancho

The baseball program needs middle school baseball coaches at each school.

If interested, call Ron Murphy at 896-5878.

A junior varsity girls tennis coach is needed by RRHS varsity coach Nick Morris.

If experienced and interested, call Morris at 315-0966. The season begins Feb. 15; the position pays $1,000.

Galle’s nickname

missed here last week

An item last week about Rio Rancho fighter Lucas Galle (3-1) provided an incorrect nickname: Galle is “The Ghost,” not “The Shadow.”

Galle is ranked No. 3 among the state’s junior welterweights, behind No. 1 Joe Gomez and No. 2 Ray Sanchez III, for New Mexico at nmboxing.com.

Physicals take

All sports physicals for Mid-High and Rio Rancho High School athletes for the 2008-09 school year will be held May 3 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the high school.

Physicals cost $20 (cash or money order only). This will be the only sports physicals session for the entire school year, advised RRHS athletic trainer Melissa Loiacono.

Athletes whose last names begin with the letters A through K should report between 8 and noon; those with surnames beginning with L-Z should report between 1 and 4.

Physical packets may be obtained at the athletic departments at boith schools or from private physicians.
