New film could bring jobs to 50 New Mexicans

Perfect Pictures will shoot the feature film Doubting Thomas this fall in Albuquerque, employing at least 50 New Mexicans, according to Gov. Bill Richardson's office.

"This project is an example of how the state film office and the Albuquerque film office are working together to bring the film industry here to New Mexico," Richardson said, "to create high-wage jobs for our citizens and move our economy forward."

The film, which will shoot for 30 days, marks the 34th production shot in New Mexico since Richardson took office.

Executive producer is Sarah Wasserman, with Bob Abramoff, Scott Lumpkin and Bill Lykins producing. Mark Blutman (The Closer, Lost at Home, Boy Meets World) will direct.

"We are proud to welcome yet another film project for the city of Albuquerque. Our policy of maintaining a film friendly atmosphere continues to encourage filmmakers to choose us as their location destination," said Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez.

Doubting Thomas is the story of a 12-year-old boy known for telling tall tales who overhears a plot to kidnap the President's daughter. When he goes public with his story, no one believes him, and he is forced to save her on his own.

"I was here scouting for a film about two years ago," Lumpkin said, "and I fell in love with Albuquerque. I'm very excited about being here with this project. The governor's office, Lisa Strout and her team at the state film office and Ann Lerner of the Albuquerque film office have been very supportive and helpful in making this project a reality."
